A story of passion
THE DAUTRESME FAMILY, PASSIONATE VISIONARIES AND TRAVELLERS
At the root of this story is passion; a family’s passion for China and all the riches that the country entails. In the 1930s, Jacques Dautresme, tireless captain of overseas courier crossings was fascinated by the forgotten treasures of the Middle Kingdom. His nephew, Francis, a talented photographer, renowned aesthete and precursor, was equally inspired by the country and in 1965, decided to revive the millennia-long Asian savoir-faire by opening a concept store in Paris dedicated to the poetry of daily life.
In 2011 the Compagnie Française de l’Orient et de la Chine took a new turn on its journey, thanks to the arrival of Laurent Dumas; businessman, passionate collector of art, and president of Emerige; breathing new life into the brand with a contemporary lifestyle feel
